VocalizED Identity Crafting and Exploration (VOICE) Lab

The VocalizED Identity Crafting and Exploration (VOICE) lab is a collaborative cultural identity exploration and narration hub in the English department at Stony Brook University. This hub supports immigrant populations in utilizing the tools and platforms of multiliteracies to explore, author, and disseminate their identity narratives. These platforms include podcasting, video narratives, and other digital and multimodal tools.

We aim to promote social justice advocacy, increase recognition of intersectional identities, and foster stronger bonds of allyship and acceptance across differences.

The Lab produces several public-facing programs, including podcasts, fireside chats, film screenings, and other immigrant and literacy-focused events and activities. Additionally, we are currently pursuing several research-focused inquiries.
