Island Roots, Farrin Dreams:  Caribbean Immigrants' Narratives of the Journey

This project uses the authentic narrative method to amplify the immigration journey stories of five Caribbean immigrants. Hailing from Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, these immigrants provide an insightful window into the Caribbean immigrant journey to the United States. The immigrants reflect on their experiences from the point at which they decided to migrate up to the present day, and their stories are woven together by themes of faith, resilience, and the evolution of identity in a new place.

While the project shares stories of challenges, it is also a poignant and beautiful celebration of thriving. It depicts the Caribbean immigrants' deep and lasting connections to their families, even as they plant their roots in new soil.
