In 2017, Maxwell arrived in the United States at the age of 62 to join his daughter and her family. He left his landscaping business behind in Jamaica, along with most of his family and friends. 

In the US, Maxwell finds fulfillment through spending time with his family and through his work.  He spends his time working at Walmart, volunteering, and spending time with family. Maxwell is currently a legal permanent resident living in the Northeast.


Artifacts

Artifacts are meaningful items shared by participants in each interview. These may include a piece of artwork, a drawing, a key, song lyrics, a Bible or Bible verse, a picture, an item of clothing, or any other object that symbolizes their immigrant journey. Each artifact reflects the emotional and mental state of the participant at various stages of their immigration experience.
